The election day is upfront, less than a year Indonesia will have their democratic party. The prospective candidates also narrow. They will enter the contestation with their respective supporting political machine. As I ever wrote on the previous article, political visual identity will also be the main course to reach their supporters. Shall it’ll be problem?

First, we have known that candidate in politic at least should expected to have the main resource. No, we are not talking about money. It should be precondition. We are talking about popularity, acceptability, and electability. Popularity refers to how likely a candidate is in the public. Acceptability refers to how candidate’s view and values align to those electorate. While electability refers to candidate perceived chances winning the election. This all generally measured by polls, surveys, and other forms of public opinion research. Acceptability often typically measured among the party members. In general, the more popular, acceptable and electable a candidate, the more likely they are to win the election. However, bias sometime occurs. For example, candidate who is popular but less electable may still win the election. It depends on his/her opponent. This is why political visual identity slightly be a backup if not the main machine to reach more, as close as possible to their supporter. Overall, if popularity, acceptability, electability and political identity formulated to right specific strategies, it can boost a candidate to build momentum and set the agenda.

Popularity, acceptability, and electability, which one important the most? It is varied depend on the specific election and politic climate. However, electability often considered to be the most factor. Simply because, it is election, all the candidate shared the main goals, to be a election winner. Sometimes we may see a personal, rely on his/her popularity and acceptability running the election, end up with being nothing because of electability factor which he doesn’t have.

So, how a candidate should do to increase their popularity, acceptability, and electability? A resume from various articles, there are strategies that can be done. Candidate must have an ability to identify their core values and message. Their message should be clear, concise, and easy to understand. The best message is easy to understand not great to say. Second, you have to build a stronger team, that can help candidate to develop winning strategy, and raise voters. Third strategy is to be visible and accessible to voters. This will help them connect with voters and build trust. Another and shall be the most important strategy nowadays is run a positive campaign. Candidate should focus on the issues and why they are the best to address them. Stop an idea of being just different, contrary to other candidates or even reviling them. The most important is avoid personal attack another candidate.

Running these strategy, candidate and his/her team should deepen their ability to digging more research and any other relevant statistic data, be articulative and persuasive, professional and trustworthy, last but not least be persistent and resilient.

May the best idea is the winner, combining with other candidate that relevant and or support the main goal, the citizens hope.
